The Black Princesses rallied from that opening defeat to Ecuador to beat Korea Republic 3-1 in their second game at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Ghanaians have faltered against Asian opposition in the tournament, losing 4-2 to the South Koreans in 2010, ahead of Wednesday’s game.
But Charles Sampson’s side turned up in the second half to shock their opponents.
After a goalless first half, the Princesses recorded two quick goals within 10 minutes into the second to make a statement of reaching the next stage.
Sarah Nyarko scored first in the 53rd minute before Ivy Owusu Ansah got the second.
Ruth Amponsah made it 3-0 before the Koreans pulled one back in added time.
The Princesses next and final group game will be against France on Saturday, September 12.
