The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has assured motorists awaiting their licences among 444,000 already printed that they will receive them by the end of November 2026.
He says the Authority is working to ensure that all eligible applicants who have completed the required registration process receive their licences within the deadline.
Kotey has acknowledged the growing concerns over the delays, with affected motorists taking to social media to complain that their licences have not been delivered.
He indicates the situation has also created difficulties for some motorists on the road, as they continue to face concerns from the Ghana Police Service over their inability to produce their licences.
“I can assure them that by the end of next month, every Ghanaian who has truly gone through the process to register with DVLA will have his or her licence,” he said in an interview after the commissioning of the DVLA’s second ultra centre at Kasoa and a new office at Bawjiase in the Central Region.
The Authority has printed more than 440,000 driver’s licence applications by the end of 2025 as part of efforts to clear a backlog that included applications dating as far back as 2023.
