The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a motorcycle gang accused of terrorising residents within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, identified as Sharif Mahmud, 23, Abdallah Karim, 25, and James Alena, 25, were arrested during a police operation at Suame in Kumasi at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

According to the Police, the gang is suspected of engaging in illegal midnight motorcycle racing, during which members allegedly take over public roads and attack and rob unsuspecting passers-by.

The activities of the group are said to have created fear and insecurity among residents in the affected communities.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, by Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the Command said it had been monitoring the movements and activities of the group as part of sustained efforts to apprehend its members, who had repeatedly evaded arrest.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the three suspects, while several other alleged members managed to escape.

The Police said the suspects have been granted police enquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned before court when it resumes sitting following the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

Investigations are continuing, with efforts underway to track down and arrest the remaining members of the suspected gang.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order and urged the public to volunteer credible information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the fleeing suspects.
