A 28-year-old lady has been found dead in her boyfriend’s room at Essikadu in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.
The deceased, identified as Maame Ekua, also known as Elizabeth Sackey, was reportedly found dead after visiting her boyfriend at Essikadu, despite having told her mother that she was travelling to Obuasi for an undertaking assignment.
According to her mother, Ekua Tawiah Badu, her daughter, who works as an undertaker, informed her on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, that she would be traveling to Obuasi over the weekend to work on a body.
She subsequently left their home at New Takoradi on Thursday, leaving her mother with the impression that she was in Obuasi.
However, on Saturday, November 7, her mother received a call informing her of an emergency involving her daughter at the Essikadu Hospital.
Although she immediately rushed to the hospital, she was unable to find her daughter there.
She was subsequently directed to a house at Essikadu, where she was informed that her daughter had been found dead in a room.
Recounting the painful experience to Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show host, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the mother, said she was shocked to discover that her daughter had not travelled to Obuasi as she had been told.
“She is an undertaker. She told me on Wednesday that she was going to Obuasi this weekend to work on a body.
“So she left on Thursday. I was home this Saturday when I was called that there was an emergency at the Essikadu Hospital involving my daughter, and I went there immediately, even though I knew my daughter was out of town. Unfortunately, I did not find her at the hospital.
“They instead took me to a house in Essikadu, where I was told my daughter was lying dead in a room.
“She was lying restlessly, and I found her dead in the room.
“She had visited a boy at Essikadu after telling me she was going to Obuasi and had died in the boy’s room. Police have arrested the boy,” she said.
The deceased was a single mother of three children.
Police have reportedly arrested the boyfriend as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
