The Wa–Bole–Wenchi road remains one of the most important roads connecting the Upper West Region to other parts of Ghana.
Every day, traders, students, drivers, farmers, and ordinary citizens depend on this road for transportation, business, and economic activities.
For years, residents and road users have endured dust, potholes, poor drainage systems, and dangerous stretches that continue to put lives at risk.
Now that work is ongoing on the road, citizens are expecting nothing less than quality and professionalism from the contractor handling the project.
As taxpayers whose money is funding national development, we cannot sit quietly and accept poor workmanship or substandard construction. Ghana has suffered too many cases where roads deteriorate only a few months after completion because contractors fail to meet the required standards. This cycle must stop.
The contractor working on the Wa–Bole–Wenchi road must understand that this project is not just another contract. It is a lifeline for thousands of people across the region. A badly constructed road will not only waste public funds but will also continue to expose motorists and passengers to accidents, vehicle damage, and economic hardship.
We therefore call on the contractor to ensure:
* Proper drainage construction
* Use of quality materials
* Timely completion of work
* Strict adherence to engineering standards
* Transparency and accountability throughout the project
We also urge government agencies and supervising authorities to closely monitor the work being done. Regular inspections must be carried out to ensure the contractor delivers a durable and high-quality road that will serve the people for many years.
We would like to use this opportunity to thank the government and all the 11 MPs in the UWR for their unforgettable support towards the completion of the project. We say “Ayeekoo”.
To my fellow youth across the Region, I thank you all for the keen interest in supporting the development of the Region, I say “Ya Barika”. Let’s continue with our unique and innovative approach to seeing the positive progress of the project.
The people of the Upper West Region deserve better infrastructure, and citizens are now more aware and vocal than ever before. We will not accept any bad job or shoddy work disguised as development. If public money is being invested into this road, then the outcome must reflect quality, value, and long-term benefit for the people.
The Wa–Bole–Wenchi road is too important to be compromised. The contractor(Maripoma) must do a better job — because the people are watching with both eyes. Long live Wa, long live Ghana.
