The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers’ Association has reiterated its intention to embark on its three-day sit down strike between November 1 to 3. The Association is entreating the public to reject allegations of bribery to its leadership to back down on its intended strike.

“We hereby call upon the public to disregard and dismiss these allegations of bribery as they hold no merit and are intended to undermine the integrity of our association,” a statement issued Thursday, October 26, 2023 said in parts.

The Association says the allegations of some of its leadership taking bribes to rescind the decision to embark on a strike is an indictment on the group and has asked the public to treat it as baseless.

“We find the accusations of bribery to be not only baseless but also disrespectful to the dedication and commitment of our leadership.”

“Our sit down strike is indeed still on course, and we are resolute in our determination to pursue this cause despite the unfounded allegations of bribery from some disgruntled members within our association,” the statement added.

Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association Reiterates Commitment to Sit down Strike Amidst Unfounded Allegations of Bribery

October 25, 2023

The leadership of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association in the Greater Accra Region would like to address recent developments regarding our planned sit down strike scheduled for November 1 to 3, aimed at raising concerns over the implementation of the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Vat Compliance and Invigilation exercise.

We wish to categorically deny any allegations of bribery on the part of the government to influence our stance on this matter.

Our sit down strike is indeed still on course, and we are resolute in our determination to pursue this cause despite the unfounded allegations of bribery from some disgruntled members within our association.

We find the accusations of bribery to be not only baseless but also disrespectful to the dedication and commitment of our leadership.

The Abossey Okai Spare Dealers Association is comprised of accomplished and reputable individuals who are passionately advocating for the welfare and interests of the Abossey Okai community.

We hereby call upon the public to disregard and dismiss these allegations of bribery as they hold no merit and are intended to undermine the integrity of our association.

We remain unwavering in our commitment to ensuring that the concerns related to the implementation of manual policing are addressed, and we firmly believe in the importance of holding the Ghana Revenue Authority accountable.

We would like to reiterate that our planned sit down strike will proceed as scheduled, serving as a means to emphasize our demands for the Ghana Revenue Authority to cancel the ongoing manual policing implementation process.

Our association remains dedicated to the principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability in matters that affect our community.

We appreciate the understanding and support of the public in our efforts to champion the interests of Abossey Okai and to ensure that the concerns related to manual policing implementation are appropriately addressed.
