It took a Mohamed Salah penalty to rescue a point for the Pharaohs of Egypt in their 2-2 draw with Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations

It was the opening game of Group B at the tournament and the record champions showed the stuff they are made up of after Mohamed Mostafa scored in the just the 2nd minute of the game.

But with the scores remaining 1-0 going into the break, the Mambas came back strongly in the 2nd half to overturn the deficit.

Firstly, Witiness Quembo connected to a cross with a powerful header to beat Mohamed El Shenawy in post for the Egyptians.

Clesio Bauque put his side ahead moments later, sparking wild jubilations in the crowd.

But Salah was on hand to rescue a point for the seven-time champions.

They face the Black Stars of Ghana in their next game while the Mozambicans meet Cape Verde on Friday.
