The President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) and the National Paralympic Committee – Ghana (NPC – Ghana), Samson Deen, has been nominated to receive the West Africa Nations Meritorious Award at the upcoming Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards.

The Awards ceremony will come off on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), where the most impactful and influential sports writers will be honoured.

Since he was elected the president of the African Paralympic Committee in 2021, Samson Deen has ensured the significant growth of para-sports across the continent.

He replaced Leonel da Rocha Pinto of Angola, who had been president of the organization for 13 years.

Samson Deen has gone on to oversee the successful organization of the first-ever Accra 2023 African Para Games from September 12 2023.

He has received praise from several para sports federations worldwide, with the world para sports governing body, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), also commending his efforts to ensure a successful maiden Paralympics in Africa.

With Ghana set to host the 13″ African Games in March 2024, Mr Deen’s experience and influence will be crucial to the Sports fraternity as his role as part of the organizational team could help host successful games.

The upcoming SWAG Awards will be the 48th edition of the prestigious awards.
