Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have been denied official training at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Tanzania ahead of the CAF Champions League Group D clash with Young Africans.

No reason has been given for the decision despite it being mandatory for the visitors 24 hours before the game.

The complaints were lodged by Medeama SC head coach Evans Augustus Addotey at the pre-match press conference held on Tuesday, December 19.

He told journalists that he was denied training on Monday and for the mandatory training on Tuesday because of some games at the venue.

“So, I am yet to know where my team is training or preparing finally for tomorrow’s game.”

But reports gathered by Onua Sports indicate that the venue has been closed to Medeama SC as well as Yanga due to the CAF Confederation Cup game between Tanzania’s Simba and Morocco’s Wydad AC.

The same venue will host the Al-Hilal-Etoile Sportive du Sahel CAF Champions League Group C game later in the evening.

The Ghanaians, who lie joint second, will take on bottom-placed Yanga in Group D the following day.

Coach Evans Addotey later said as a coach he will not be perturbed by the “intimidation” and will ensure that he goes back home with a satisfying result.

“I have the confidence. I am a coach, I don’t mind. Even if I am intimidated or frustrated, my focus, my aim, my ambition is that I go back home to Ghana with a good result: a draw is okay for me, a win is okay for me.”

The match will kick off at 1300GMT.
