The day one of the Kumasi version of the Peoples’ Assembly at the GNAT Hall was confronted with a whole new vibe slightly different from the usual individuals coming in to express themselves.

After co-hosts, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin and Captain Smart had taken reports from certain parts of the city to access the flooding situations following the rains, the public who trooped the venue were given the opportunity to express their concerns over the state of affairs in the region and country as a whole.

Typically of Kofi and Smart who have been critical with the government over its loss of touch with the development agenda of the Kumasi city and the Ashanti region as a whole, most of the participants sang praises on the ruling government for its unprecedented development in the city.

They mentioned among other things the provision of MASLOC and other funds which have relieved them off the economic plight.

The implementation of the Free SHS, One District One Factory, Free maternal care from the days of ex president Kufuor amongst other projects are things the Kumasi indigenes say President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government must be lauded for.

According to them, journalists should desist from blaming every shortfall in development on the NPP government since it preceded an administration which failed to commence anything for the NPP to continue when they assumed power.

They lauded the government and their MPs for the massive construction of roads in their constituencies urging their counterparts not to allow themselves to be deceived by anyone that, the NPP government is not doing enough.

A few who expressed divert opinions were booed at with chants of “away” “away” just as was done to president Akufo-Addo by a section of the youth who were present at the Global Citizens concert at the Black Star Square in Accra.

The Peoples’ Assembly continues unabated tomorrow where residents are expected to go and express themselves.
