This is to allow the man who served as Trade and Industry minister under both the current and erstwhile John Kufuor administrations to make time to fully concentrate on his ambitions to lead the ruling party to the next general elections.

Alan Kyerematen has been the closest contender to President Akufo-Addo after J.A. Kufuor finished his term.

He is currently contesting with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and a host of others.
