The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that all 16 regions of the country now have passport application centres.

He posted this on his X page on December 30.

“We made it! All 16 Regions of Ghana finally have their Passport Application Centres,” he posted.

Mr Ablakwa added, “Expect Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson to commission Ahafo, Bono East and Western North. I shall commission North East and Savannah after successfully commissioning Oti yesterday.”

“President Mahama’s Reset Agenda is Real. We leaving no region behind. For God and Country,” the Foreign Affairs Minister wrote.

In a related development effective Thursday, November 13, 2025, Ghanaians began paying GHC350 instead of the previous GHC500 to acquire a passport, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced.

This, according to the government, is part of its efforts to ease financial burdens on citizens and improve access to essential public services.

It also forms part of the government’s promise to review passport processing costs and make travel documents more affordable for the citizenry.

Mr. Ablakwa, in a post on his Facebook on Sunday, November 9, 2025, noted that the price adjustment also aims to encourage more citizens to obtain valid travel documents through the appropriate channels, while discouraging the use of middlemen and unauthorised agents.

The new fee structure will apply to all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide and covers standard application services.

The fee was increased by the previous NPP administration where the then sector Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, cited other subsidies which she said the state couldn’t subsidise anymore.
