Passengers at Bogoso, Bawdie and Manso Amenfi to Asankragwa are stranded as drivers in the area are embarking on strike over their poor roads.

Richard Alex Frimpong of Wassaman Insider’s newspaper has been telling Onuaonline the Bawdie to Asankragwa road is a 45-minute drive but currently takes an hour and a half (1hr 30m) due to the bad nature of the road.

He says drivers plying the route had to choose between increasing the fares and demonstrating for the roads to be fixed.

But the District Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi Central, Patrick Amponteng had in the course of the deliberations said on one local radio station, Ahobraseɛyeɛ FM that, three DCEs had agreed to bring the contractor, Asabea Construction, to come and complete the work.

According to Mr. Frimpong, after two weeks without any action on the roads, the drivers decided to ground their vehicles to protest for their roads to be fixed.

The vehicles load from the three main towns to Asankragwa, for the adjoining communities to benefit.
