The price change will be effected effective Friday, October 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, he clarified that “Margins, fees, and rates to all other stakeholders, including COCOBOD, remain unchanged.”

He assured that COCOBOD will continue to make interventions to support the production and welfare of cocoa farmers.

Ato Forson added that the supply of free fertilisers, free insecticides, free spraying machines, free fungicides, and free flower inducers by the COCOBOD to cocoa farmers, adding that the scholarship scheme enjoyed by wards of cocoa farmers are all still in place.

“In addition, COCOBOD remains on track to implement the new Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers in the 2026/27 academic year,” Dr Forson said.

Government increased the price of cocoa from US$3,100 per tonne to US$5,040 per tonne in August this year which was effected on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The Minister, in a Facebook post said it was important to note that the decision meant the producer price had seen a significant rise by by 62.58% in US dollar terms.

The increment, he added, in producer price represents 70% of the gross Free-On-Board (FOB) value of US$7,200 per tonne and aligns with President Mahama’s promise to pay cocoa farmers 70% of the FOB price.
