Nwinsa, a community in the Atwima Kwawonma constituency of the Ashanti region has now been connected to the national grid, ending decades of darkness. A flip of a switch and the light is on.
An elated community praised the Member of Parliament and former Deputy Defence Minister, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, for fulfilling his promise of connecting them to the national grid.
“I made a promise to you when I was contesting to become the MP for the first time that giving the opportunity I would press until you are connected to the national grid, today it has been fulfilled,” the MP remarked, signaling a dawn of a new era for the jubilant residents of Nwinsa.
Chief of Trede, Nana Nuben Sra III, described the development as historic.
“This is unprecedented, and I consider this historic. The people of Nwinsa are seeing lights for the first time, which is not mere an achievement, and I will forever be grateful to Kofi Amankwa-Manu,” he said.
Ama, an elated resident and a seamstress, said, “now I can at least acquire an industrial machine to accelerate my workload. I can not thank the MP enough.”
Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwawonma, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, assured of working with the current MCE to ensure the constituency also benefits from development.
“I am committed to working hand-in-hand with the MCE for development. Government is a continuous process. Although my party is not in power, I shall continue to lobby for more development,” he stated.
