The Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma cum Deputy Minister of Defence, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, believes the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will have a strong and more united front to face the 2024 general elections, despite recent happenings in the party.

In an interview with OnuaOnline Monday, October 2, 2023, the Atwima Kwanwoma lawmaker allayed fears that Alan Kyerematen’s departure will disintegrate the party’s strong base, which is the Ashanti region.

“In every organisation, some will leave, others will also join. It is sad to see Alan left the party but, it will make us even more stronger for the battle ahead,” he told William Evans-Nkum.

Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, a staunch member of the NPP and four times flag bearer hopeful withdrew from the November 4 presidential primary and eventually, resigned as a member of the NPP.

The disgruntled flag bearer hopeful announced his resignation from the Danquah Busia Dombo party Monday, September 25, 2023.

He reiterated on the day of his resignation that he parted ways with the NPP presidential elections as a result of what he had described as blatant attack on his supporters.

He noted his supporters were treated with disdain without punitive measures by the Election Committee of the NPP to correct the ills that characterised the special delegates’ conference on August 26.

He noted also that, the monetisation that characterised the first phase of the party’s presidential primary was unprecedented in the history of the NPP’s internal elections.

His reason for the resignation, he told the media was that, his continuous stay will further bring division and cracks in the party, saying the NPP has been hijacked by a selected few.
