Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Ada, has said the Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is an economist on paper but not in practicality.
He says the Vice President is bereft of economic ideas, the reason the nation’s economy is plummeting.
According to the Minority Whip in Parliament, the Vice President is only a “chew and pour” expert in economics, lacking the practicality to help ameliorate the economic downturn of the state.
Madam Cudjoe-Ghansa was speaking with Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua TV’s morning show Monday, April 29, 2024, when she made the comments whilst comparing the competence of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, running mate of the opposition NDC and Dr. Bawumia, on who will perform better as Vice President.
“He is an economist on paper, not in practicality. He is a chew and pour expert,” she said in Twi and responded in the affirmative when asked if she meant the Vice President is bereft of economic ideas.
She said the Professor is a woman who visits the market herself and feels the economic realities unlike the Vice President who doesn’t go to the market.
This, she said, will help her devices proactive measures to curtail looming economic challenges unlike the Vice President whose expertise is hinged on chew and pour.
“She goes to the market so the moment she realises the price of gari is increasing, she will then decide if it is transportation that would be reduced or some cushion that should be given to the drivers who transport the product to the markets. We will not behave like those who were put in charge of Agriculture and transported plantain to the ministry to sell,” she noted.
She later criticised the government for neglecting her constituency and giving them problems with some projects they started and abandoned.
“They have abandoned all the roads they touched in the constituency. When you go to Kasei, they have abandoned the bridge and whenever it rains, the residents homes get flooded. This is disaster caused by human. It is not because they have built in waterways but due to the bridge. These are the priorities of our people and I know they are going to be relieved of them since this government is on its way out of power,” she indicated.
