President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best Vice President the nation has ever had.
During his speech at the Kumasi Jubilee Park Tuesday, July 09, 2024, at the official unveiling of the running mate to the flag bearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the President said he was the best person to testify about the Vice President and his running mate having worked with them both for long.
He said the NPP flag bearer is “honest, loyal, straightforward, hardworking and if there is anyone who can testify about Bawumia, and Dr. Opoku Prempeh, it is me. I know he will deliver.”
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Assin Central who also contested the flag bearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, also used the opportunity to urge the leadership of the party to come together to resolve all kinds of differences amongst them.
He said if the leadership come together to settle the differences between them and the grassroot, there is going to be unity, which is the only way to ‘breaking the 8’.
He asserts his presence, together with five other persons who contested the Vice President at the party’s presidential primary at the unveiling of the running mate to the flag bearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, shows how united the party is.
He, however, advised that the party leadership resolve its issues with the grass root to settle those who are disgruntled.
He made the comments at the Kumasi Jubilee Park Tuesday, July 09, 2024, during the official unveiling of the running mate to the flag bearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
“Six of those of us who contested the Vice President are here and this shows how united we are. As I have not departed from the party, I can’t stay away from the party’s activities and events. The leadership of the party should ensure there is unity here to resolve the disgruntled grassroots.
“The Bible says a leader should first be a servant of the people. Let us move from house to house and apologise to anyone we have offended and with unity, we will break the ‘8’” he advised.
