Three people have sustained gun wounds at Bibiani in the Western North region during a demonstration to prevent the opening of the Mensin Mines.

The paramount chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso who doubles as the president of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II had gone to Bibiani to perform a rite to officially open the Mensin Mine when the incident happened.

The youth of Bibiani have blamed management of the mine for refusing them employment, a situation which occasioned Wednesday’s demonstration.

It is reported some of the youth who were allegedly armed opened fire upon reaching the precinct of the mine which was under heavy security.

Three people are reported to have sustained wounds from a stray bullet.

The victims have been rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

The Bibiani Police have opened investigations into the incident.
