Ghana’s national U-17 men’s team, the Black Starlets, will need a win at all cost in their final group game in order to stand a chance of advancing at the WAFU B U-17 Championships ongoing in La Cote d’Ivoire.

This follows a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of the hosts in their second game in Group A on Tuesday.

The Starlets had been held to a 1-1 draw in their first game against Togo on Saturday, September 20 but were credited for holding their own in that match as they played almost the entire duration with 10 players after Gabriel Denyinah was red-carded in the 3rd minute.

On Tuesday, the Ghanaians conceded as early as the 4th minute after Bema Doumbia struck for the hosts at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

After the break, Hubert Yao doubled the lead with Bamba Souhalio putting the game beyond the Starlets with a third goal in the 59th minute.

Ghana would have to fight for all the points in the final group game against Niger, who lost 1-3 to Togo in the other group game played Tuesday.
