Residents of Danso, a village in the Bosome Freho Municipality of the Ashanti Region are accusing one Asante Bediatuo who claims to be from the Flagstaff House for causing mayhem in the town and putting the lives of the indigenes at risk.

They claim the supposed Mr. Bediatuo is forcefully indulging in galamsey on the only river that is their source of water.

Speaking on Onua TV/FM’s morning show Friday, August 12, 2022, a resident of Danso, Kwame Boateng narrated:

“About two months ago, one Asante Bediatuo who claims he is from the Flagstaff House came to Danso, a community in Bosome Freho. He said he is coming to mine in the only water we have here which we objected.
Unbeknownst to us, he met with the chief and elders and they brought about 10 excavators to the next town, Nsuaem. Then the Chinese came to rent an apartment at the house of the former Youth Organiser who is here at Danso.

“Then they started felling peoples’ cocoa plantation. They’ve hired some boys in this town who are entering peoples homes and cutting down their cocoa trees. We resisted and they brought landguards and soldiers here to terrorise those kicking agaisnt their activities. One soldier pulled a gun and threatened to shoot a lady who cautioned him to drive carefully when he was driving recklessly around.

He explains further that “the chiefs looked unconcerned so we went to Manhyia but Otumfuo had travelled. We lodged a complaint at the Regional Police headquarters and went to Fox FM but they bribed them so our message fell on deaf ears. So those supporting the chief have pierced one of our colleague’s eyes with a scissor. The DCE sent a delegation here to tell us whether we like it or not, they will mine,” he added.
