About Captain Smart

Captain Smart, born Blessed Godsbrain Smart, is a Ghanaian media personality known for his outspoken and charismatic style of presentation. He is currently the host of the morning show on Onua TV, Maakye.

His delivery style, particularly in the Fabewoso editorial segment of his show, is very controversial – getting him into trouble and earning him respect at the same time.

Some of the commentaries he has made on the segment have landed him in National Security cells. During the eight-year administration of the previous government, he was arrested 39 times.

While some praised him for his courageous and resilient approach to addressing national issues, others believed he deserved every arrest due to how he criticised political office holders suspected of acts detrimental to the state’s development.

His mantra is that broadcasting shouldn’t sugarcoat the truth if real impact is needed to drive change. He usually speaks about unemployment, poverty, inequality, and other social and political issues.

Before joining Media General, Smart worked with Accra-based Angel FM and Adom FM (Multimedia Group), where he organised a demonstration against persons cited in the Auditor-General Report for squandering state funds.

At the demonstration, a petition was presented to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), resulting in the retrieval of a significant amount of money for the State. He also worked at Fox FM, OTEC FM, and Kesewaa Radio, all in Kumasi, and Radio Peace in Cape Coast.
