Blessed Godsbrain Smart, host of Onua Maakye has lambasted the Akufo-Addo led adminstration for securing the world’s ‘second poorest country’ spot in their era.
In the midst of the numerous vilification as the worst president Ghana has had in the Fourth Republic, Captain Smart said John Dramani Mahama did not place Ghana among the top 20 poorest countries in the world during his administration.”
According to the World Bank report, Ghana has been ranked as the second country with the highest default risk in 2022 in terms of sovereign debt vulnerability.
Ghana comes after El Savador which the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have given up on in terms of a bailout.
El Savador, according to reports lacks the fiscal insight for the Breton Wood Institutions to provide assistance for.
According to Captain Smart, it is disappointing for such a country to trail behind Ghana in terms of sovereign debt vulnerability.
Ranting on Maakye Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Mr. Smart wondered how John Agyekum Kufuor is still alive but hasn’t been consulted to make things better.
For a country like El Savador which lacks arable lands like Ghana, with 49% of its population being retirees who don’t pay tax, where getting people to occupy ministerial positions is difficult, Captain Smart held “hell is even better than Ghana” to place above such a country.
“Ghana is the second poorest country in the world after El Savador. El Savador have about 49% of their of their population are retirees so they don’t pay tax. They don’t have arable lands, minerals and anything. It is even difficult to get people to be ministers. The IMF and world bank have given up on them. This is a report from the world bank. It is not every white man that’s wise and not every black man that’s a fool. From their history, they’re prisoners,” he lamented.
“Why is this government suffering when J.A Kufuor is still alive with his ideas?,” he quizzed, adding that the IMF is contemplating on withholding the money they’re to release to Ghana until Ghana government explicitly show what they used the loans they have taken for.
“From now till 2028, government has used all Ghana’s cocoa as collateral for loans. GETFund has been collateraised for 6 years. The oil has been collaterarised for 6 years from 2021. With this as yardstick for leadership, Mahama was a professor and Nana Addo is in kindergarten,” he furiously noted.
He alleged President Akufo-Addo is not in control of affairs in the country.
“Ken Ofori-Atta, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and Asante Bediatuo are ruling Ghana and consult Nana occassionally,” he concluded.
