A cargo truck conveying cereals has overturned on the overhead bridge at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange in Accra, popularly referred to as ‘Circle’.
The Burkina Faso-registered truck which was carrying tiger nuts, maize and beans when it overturned around 12:00 a.m. midnight on Thursday, January 8, 2026, crushing a sprinter vehicle in the process.
Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed that the mate of the sprinter vehicle ‘trotro’ involved in the crash is receiving treatment at the Ridge Hospital.
A heavy traffic was recorded along the Overhead with commuters reporting long delays in both directions of the road before emergency crew cleared the road for traffic to flow.
Officials from the National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service rushed to the scene to assist in clearing the spilt goods and ensure road safety.
