Newly-outdoored Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz has hinted at his philosophy as he officially takes up the reins.
The Portuguese was unveiled in Accra on Thursday, April 23 to lead Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Asked what his philosophy is, defensive or attacking, the former South Africa coach said that is up to journalists to tell since he attacks with the ball and defends without the ball.
“If we have the ball we have to attack, if we don’t have the ball we have to fight together,” he answered, philosophising about the rule of the game.
“That’s the rule of the game because at the end, in Ghana and the rest of the world, there is only one medicine in football: to win.”
Queiroz is expected to be in charge for the final two pre-tournament friendlies to assess the team.
Ghana will play 2026 World Cup co-hosts Mexico on Friday, May 22 before playing Wales in their final preparatory game on Tuesday, June 2.
He told the press during his unveiling that he will select players who are “fit”, “experienced” and “capable” to form his team.
He is ready to also monitor some local players to be considered for selection as he announces readiness to take risks in order to get the team to perform at the mundial.
