A mother, Dorothy Darkowaa, 47, has died with her daughter, 11, after a torrential rainfall collapsed their building at Sefwi Bekwai Zongo in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai municipality of the Western North region.
The incident has led one person suffering degree of injuries.
The Assembly Member for Sefwi Bekwai Zongo Electoral Area, Kwasi Prince confirmed the Thursday, April 27, 2023, incident to Emmanuel Sowah saying it occurred at about 11pm.

“It happened last Thursday around 11pm in the night when a call came to me to gather some people to rescue the victims. Zongo is an old settlement with weak buildings and the victims were in one of such structures, but with the force we used we were able to rescue the three people but unfortunately 11year old Priscilla was found dead at the spot. Madam Dorothy Darkowaa and the son were rushed to Greenshield Hospital, but the woman was pronounced dead. The son is however, responding to treatment,” he narrated.
Brother of the deceased, Okyeame Kwadwo Nkansah the disaster was caused by the downpour.
According to him, the 70-year-old structure has not seen any renovation due to financial constraints.
The bodies of the two have been sent to the Sefwi Ahwianso mortuary whilst police have commenced investigation into the matter.
