By November 2014, Kojo Antwi and Daddy had become so close and were eager to work together with Yours Truly as their Manager.
A meeting was subsequently arranged after Kojo Antwi’s celebration at the Legends and Legacy Award at the Accra International Conference Centre. Kojo drove me to the home of DL early morning on our way to the Airport to catch a flight back home to Sunyani.
It was an excellent encounter among the three of us and although we had spoken on the phone a couple of times, it was indeed my first face-to-face encounter with him. After the meeting, everything was ready to kickstart that journey with the 24th December concert, a nationwide tour, two albums—one for each of them—and a reality show dubbed The Kojo and Kwadwo Reality Show. Although we secured a 400k sponsorship pledge with a bank for the 24th December gig, the entire project could not materialise, sadly.
However, my brief encounter with him led to the birth of DL Radio, which I ensured was registered immediately so we could start the process of applying for FM license, after I had done same for the Maestro, Breeze Fm.
When I returned home to Sunyani, we spoke a few times, including with my wife, Safura, who was born and raised in Asante Mampong, DL’s hometown. He talked about her grandma’s waakye at the Asante Mampong Station, which was very popular at that time. He was indeed a lovely Man and his demise is such a great loss to Ghana’s music industry.
While praying for him and his family in such a difficult moment , I want to leave a little one for Kojo Antwi, who, in the eyes of many, was DL’s fiercest musical rival, who genuinely loved the latter and his music. They saw themselves not only as friends but as brothers. Kojo Antwi could sing most of Lumba’s hit songs. Their lyrical rivalry blessed Ghana with fantastic hit songs and Shows.
It is, however, unfortunate that despite the mutual respect and the desire to work together, things did not work out as planned, but God knows best.
To everyone who cherished you, Kwadwo Fosu will never die because your legacy will continue to live forever…
