Ten persons suspected to be land guards have been arrested by the Okyeman Land Protection Force at Yaw Kɔkɔ near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

They have been accused of allegedly intimidating residents of three communities; Yaw Kɔkɔ, Nsawam and Amasaman lately.

The taskforce retrieved some offensive weapons including guns from the suspected landguards who had pitched camp in a house at Yaw Kɔkɔ for their operations.

The suspects have been handed over to the Kyebi Divisional Police command for further investigation.

The Okyeman Akwansrahene who doubles as the leader of the Okyeman Land Protection Force Baffour Asiedu Bekoe, called on the security service to be swift in dealing with land guards to prevent violent clash and individuals and groups encroaching on Okyeman Stool lands .

“We have handed them over to the Kyebi Police for more investigations. It is our prayer that they act swiftly, land guards issue if not dealt with would result in violent clashes,” he indicated.

Chief of Yaw Kɔkɔ, Barimah Okata Amoah has been overwhelmed with actions of the suspected land guards.

“I don’t understand what is happening. We woke up to see people on my land. They demarcated a huge portion and guarding it with weapons.”
