Police officers from the Anti-Robbery unit in Accra region have shot and killed nine suspected land guards while some officers also wounded in a gun battle at Tuba in the Ga South municipality of the Greater Accra region.
Nana Yaw Asare reports that Kwabena Mensah, an eyewitness told him the suspected land guards visited the scene to demand digging fee from some masons who were working in the area.
He said upon sighting the police who had been deployed to check such activities, they started firing arms which the police responded.

He narrated eight (8) of the land guards died on the spot while one died in police car when being transported in the police vehicle.
Meanwhile, Serwaa Agyapong, a resident whose brother is among the deceased expressed shocked over the sour development.
She avers the brother in question is a steel bender and not a land guard.
