Captain Smart has advised members on the National Cathedral Board of Trustees to be careful with their dealings with politicians.

He says if care is not taken, they will bequeath a legacy a disgraceful legacy unto themselves.

According to Captain Smart, the men of God felt they could always take Ghanaian Christians for fools until they realised people are being enlightened on certain things.

His comment comes on the back of an announcement made by the Chair of the Board of Trustees to suspend the project due to lack of funds.

Some GH₵300 million has already been spent on the cathedral aside from the $25 million paid Sir David Adjaye and Associates who were consultants of the project.

Meanwhile, the contractor in charge of the project terminated his contract with the Board when funds were not coming according to a letter issued March 14, 2022.

The Project Manager had said the contract termination stemmed from the agreement they signed.

In a related development, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said monies were still withdrawn from the account of the cathedral illegally despite the termination of the contract by Ribade Company Ltd.

In view of the above, Captain Smart says the Board is setting themselves up for disgrace if care is not taken.

He expresses shock over what he says is a compromise of the dignity of the men of God by politicians. Captain Smart was ranting on his show, Maakye Wednesday August 31, 2022.

“The pastors on the Board of Trustees should be careful else they’ll go into their grave with disgrace.

“Leaders of the Cathedral felt the Ghanaian Christian would continue to be fools under their feet. But now people are wise. They are enlightened.

“If you’re not careful, you’ll die in disgrace and the ripple effect on your churches will be massive,” he said.
