The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, has predicted a massive victory for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

He is optimistic the NPP would effortlessly break the 8 jinx if John Dramani Mahama succeed in becoming the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and maintains Prof. Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate.

The NDC is expected to hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023, to elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 polls.

The party in this regard is anticipated to elect a flagbearer who would then appoint a running mate to partner him in the general elections.

Ben Ephson who was speaking to Onua TV on Thursday, April 6, 2023, maintained that the NPP is likely to secure an overwhelming victory in the 2024 polls if John Mahama adamantly refuses to change his running mate.

He has urged leadership of the NDC to considerably influence the selection of a running mate in ensuring that the flagbearer selects someone from the Volta region to boost the party’s vote margins in their stronghold.

”If John Mahama maintains Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang he will make it easier for the NPP to break the 8. But if John Mahama wants the race to be competitive, then he should select someone from the Volta region as his running mate.

Before these two major parties could win any election they have to do well in their strongholds but for the past three elections NDC their votes in the Volta region have reduced by 6%,” he recounted.

He thus underscored the need for the NDC to select a running mate from the Volta region if they want to make 2024 elections a tough one for the NPP .
