The constituency coordinator for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the Evalue Ajomoro Egwira constituency, Frank Okpenyen, has refuted the allegations that he has bolted with transportation allowance meant for delegates.

He says the money meant for the delegates has been given to them including those whose names were not even in the register.

He tells Connect FM’s Wofa Ato Koomson that those claims were mere allegations meant to tarnish the image of Kennedy Agyapong and his team.

“It is just a mere allegation, even those whose names are not in the album, we have given them money. We have made sure every delegate has received money for transportation to vote. There are people who have decided to spread falsehood just to paint Kennedy Agyapong and his team black. We have made sure every delegate is sorted so treat the report as mere allegations,” he indicated.

Mr. Okpenyen’s reaction follows allegations from a section of the delegates that he absconded with their transportation allowance making them threaten a showdown.

Some of the delegates had indicated that they were supposed to receive money for transportation but the coordinator has snubbed them.

“We are not voting because the coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong has decided not to give us the transportation. The coordinator is nowhere to be found so we shall also advise ourselves,” one of the delegates who preferred to remain anonymous told Wofa Ato.

Another delegate said they were going to give Ken Agyapong a showdown for abandoning them.

“We shall also give Kennedy Agyapong Showdown. We will not vote for him if his coordinator refuses to bring the transportation. We are told it’s GHC300 each so we are waiting,” he indicated.

In the Ahanta West constituency, Kobby Arthur reported that a coordinator who is supposed to bring the transportation to the delegates is nowhere to be found, and as such, they have refused to vote.

“Some of them are still hanging around the voting centre. They claim their transportation has not arrived yet so they might not vote. He said.

At the Baidoo Bonsu voting centre in Ahanta West, a delegate who spoke to our news team said “that coordinator is supposed to bring us the transportation but he is yet to come around. We called him in the morning and he said he was almost here but as we speak he has refused to show up. We are still waiting for him before we vote.”

From Pastor Anane in the Amenfi West constituency, some of the delegates refused an amount of GHC700 given to them by the coordinators.

“The delegates opened their envelopes and realized the money in it has reduced from GHC1,000 to GHC700. They confronted the coordinators and it was rectified. But I cannot tell which camp the money was coming from,” he relayed.
