Former captain of Asante Kotoko Daniel Nii Adjei is urging patience on the part of all for the club’s players amid the recent poor run of form.

He is also recommending to management to get the services of a psychologist for the team.

“It is not easy but the little I can say is that they have to be patient with the players,” he indicated on Sports Centre on Onua FM on Wednesday, April 17.

“Where things are heading now, if we don’t get a psychologist for the players and all, it will be a worry.

“The confidence level is absent or either gone down and the way the supporters are reacting, not every player has that confidence to stand talks like we will beat you. They can’t even play when on the pitch.”

The former TP Mazembe midfielder was speaking in an exclusive interview with Alfred Takyi Mensah.

He appealed to supporters to tone down on their reaction towards the players especially in these moments because not all of them have the confidence to stand what is happening.

Asante Kotoko have gone seven matches without a win, securing only one point in their last eight matches.

They lost 2-0 to Dreams FC on Sunday, April 14, taking them down to 11th on the Ghana Premier League table with 33 points.

Life Patron Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called for an emergency meeting with the technical handlers and the interim management committee (IMC) on Thursday.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at Manhyia.

Already, there are mixed calls for the sacking of the head coach, Prosper Nartey Ogum.

Nii Adjei says the power to appoint and sack lies with management and the members are best-placed to sack Coach Ogum at this point or not.

He said what he knew about the second coming of the coach was for rebuilding for a period of three years and that is what is happening.

“I will beg for patience for him at least until the end of this season and if there is any decision to be taken, they take.”
