Immediate past Head Coach of Asante Kotoko Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has been announced as the new Head Coach of the national U-17 men’s soccer team, the Black Starlets.
The decision to hand the team over to Dr Narteh Ogum was taken by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the resignation of Stephen Frimpong Manso.
According to reports, Frimpong Manso stepped aside to fully concentrate on his club duties with Bibiani Goldstars SC, particularly in their maiden campaign in the CAF Champions League.
“The GFA expresses its gratitude to Coach Manso for his dedication to youth football and congratulates him on leading GoldStars to a historic Ghana Premier League title,” a statement on the GFA website said.
Dr Narteh Ogum is to lead the team prepare for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-17 Championships scheduled for Nigeria in September.
The championships will serve as qualifiers for 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
“The GFA remains fully committed to providing the technical and logistical support needed to ensure the team’s success on the road to the U17 AFCON.”
Meanwhile, Dr Narteh Ogum will also served as GFA’s Head of Coach Education, taking over from Desmond Sakyi Ofei as the letter fully takes over his role as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars.
