Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have booked a spot in the group stage of the CAF Champions League after seeing off Ghanaian champions FC Samartex in the penultimate round of qualifiers.
After a 2-2 draw in Accra in the first leg, the former champions beat FC Sax 2-0 to book a place in the competition proper 4-2 on aggregate.
Two goals in each half saw the Moroccans advance at the expense of the Ghanaian debutants.
It was the first loss for the Timber Giants in the qualifiers, having won both legs in the first round of qualifiers over Cameroon’s Victoria United.
They, however, conceded their first goals against Raja in the first leg of Saturday’s game.
Two goals in each half of the game by Marouane Zila, in the 41st minute, and Nawfel Zerhouni, in the 88th minute, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca eliminated the Ghanaians, who will now turn attention to the domestic league.
