The Club Licensing Department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved only FIVE out of 15 venues for the resumption of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
This is part of the rollout of Enhanced Safety and Security Protocols as adopted by clubs as part of the conditions for the restart of the League after the murder of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
The five venues have been approved for all Category 3 game with five approved on conditi on, awaiting re-inspection on Sunday, March 9.
Two have been flagged for safety concerns while three have been rejected for safety and technical concerns.
The five approved are Dr Kwame Kyei Complex in Abrankese, where Nations FC play, DUN’s Park in Bibiani, the home of League leaders Gold Stars SC, and Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi, where champions FC Samartex 1996 play their home games.
The remaining two are Kpando Sports Stadium, where League contenders Heart of Lions play, and TnA Stadium in Tarkwa, where former champions Medeama SC are based.
The venues given partial approval are Nii Adjei Kraku II Park in Tema, for Vision FC, Tuba Astro Turf in Kasoa, for Dreams FC, Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, for Karela FC, Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem, for Bechem United, and Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa, where Aduana FC host matches.
The two grounds with safety and security concerns are the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the University of Ghana Sports Stadium for Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak respectively.
They are expected to fix safe zones before their next official games.
The three rejected for safety and technical reasons are Berekum Golden City Park, Wenchi Town Park and AAK II Sports Arena.
