The National Executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has, pursuant to Articles 30, 31 and 32 of the Association’s 2004 Constitution, reconstituted its Statutory Committees to support the effective administration, professional development, governance and strategic growth of the Association and to assist the National Executive in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The reconstituted committees bring together seasoned journalists, media managers and experienced professionals whose expertise and commitment will contribute significantly to advancing the objectives of the Association.

1. Membership Vetting Committee

Chairperson: Albert Kwabena Dwumfour – GJA President

Members:

·       Kissi Yeboah – Veteran Journalist, formerly with the Ghana News Agency (GNA)

·       Seth Eyiah – Editor-In-Chief, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC)

·       Peter Ankomah – Editor, Daily Dispatch Newspaper

·       Nana Yaa Konadu – Presenter, Despite Media (Peace FM)

2. Professional Development Committee

Chairperson: Rebecca Ekpe – GJA Vice President

Members:

·       Kofi Yeboah – Former General Secretary, GJA and Lecturer, Wisconsin International University College

·       Cliff Ekufful- Assistant Editor, Ghanaian Times, New Times Corporation

·       George Ramsey Benamba – Chief Editor, Ghana News Agency (GNA)

·       Kweku Owusu Peprah – Head of Joy Brands, Multimedia Group

3. Social Affairs Committee

Chairperson: Suleiman Mustapha – GJA Organising Secretary

Members:

·       Isaac Owusu Asare – Editor, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC)

·       Linda Asante Agyei – Former Vice President, GJA

·       Isaac Nuamah Yeboah – Editor, Daily Analyst Newspaper

4. International Relations Committee

Chairperson: Dominic Hlordzi – GJA General Secretary

·       Ken Sackey – Deputy News Editor, Ghana News Agency (GNA)

5. Finance and Resource Mobilization Committee

Chairperson: Bertha Badu Agyei – GJA Treasurer

Members:

·       Charles Benoni Okine – Director, Corporate Affairs & External Relations (MIIF)

·       Audrey Dekalu – Former Treasurer, GJA

·       Nii Odartey Lamptey –Senior Manager, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC)

·       Michael Ocquaye – Deputy News Editor, Graphic Communications Group Limited

The National Executive is confident that the wealth of experience, professionalism and diverse expertise of the committee members will strengthen the work of the Association, promote high professional standards, deepen member engagement and support the implementation of strategic programmes for the benefit of journalists nationwide.

The committees will be officially sworn into office on Monday, August 17, 2026, during the 77th Anniversary Lecture / Symposium of the Ghana Journalists Association at the British Council in Accra.

The GJA expresses its profound appreciation to all members who have accepted the call to serve on the various committees. Their willingness to dedicate their time, knowledge and experience to the Association is a demonstration of their commitment to the advancement of journalism and the welfare of media practitioners in Ghana.

The National Executive looks forward to working closely with the committees in delivering on the Association’s mandate of promoting professionalism, safeguarding press freedom, enhancing the welfare of journalists and strengthening the GJA as the foremost professional body for journalists in Ghana.
