Reports reaching Onua Sports indicate that government has refused to accept to pay the salaries of other national team coaches aside the Black Stars’.

The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports pays salaries of the Head Coach and the Technical Team members of the men’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

But a deep-throat source from the Ministry confirms to Onua Sports that the government is not ready to assume the responsibility to pay the other national team coaches.

This is said to have worried officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who expressed belief that if accepted the deal will go a long way to develop the sport.

Currently, the GFA pays the Black Queens Head Coach and her technical team members as well as giving bonuses to all other national teams coaches and players when they are in camp.

But according to Onua Sports‘ source, the  GFA wanted to use those monies paid these coaches for other developmental projects to grow the game.

Onua Sports learns the GFA and the Sports Ministry have had meetings on this subject on more than 3 occasions but the Ministry has shown little-to-no interest.

Currently, aside the Black Stars and Black Queens, no other national team coach is under contract.

This is said to contribute to issues of non-payment and bonus rows.

Currently, the technical team and the playing body of the national U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, are owed huge bonuses despite qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The situation is likely to affect the team’s preparations if not sorted out.
