The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo has applauded Media General for holding its thoughtful leadership summit on Waste Management in Ghana.
Speaking as the Chairperson of the Waste Summit 2025 under the theme: Filtering the Future: Plastics, Waste and Wealth, the Minister commended the leading media platform for demonstrating commitment to addressing critical issue such as waste management in the country.
“Ladies and Gentleman permit me to take this opportunity to commend Media General and the entire team of organizers for their visionary initiative in putting together this summit. Indeed, your commitment to addressing critical issues around waste, health and wealthy through a circular economy lense is truly commendable,” the Minister noted at the summit on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The Minister further emphasised that Media General continues to set the standard for excellence, innovation and leadership not only information dissemination but also in shaping impactful conversations that drive sustainable development across the nation.
“Your dedication inspires confidence and demonstrates the powerful role media can play in driving solutions for a better Ghana,” Linda Ocloo added.
She stressed that the theme of the summit: Filtering the Future: Plastics, Waste and Wealth underscores the urgent need to rethink plastic not as “a mere waste but as a strategic resource capable of creating jobs, safeguarding public health and promoting innovation.”
She noted that President Mahama’s government continues to prioritise environmental sustainability and circular economic growth through initiatives such as public-private partnership.
“We are transforming sanitation challenges into opportunities for enterprise development and meaningful employment particularly for our youth. This vision aligns with His Excellency the President John Dramani Mahama’s resetting Agenda framework which emphasizes efficiency, accountability and partnership in service delivery,” she stated.
The summit, she says represents a call to action.
“We are being invited to look beyond the challenges of plastic waste and see the vast potential it holds for entrepreneurship, job creation and wealth generation if only we choose to act wisely. Let us approach today’s session with open minds, innovative spirit and a sheer determination to turn waste into wealth and vision into reality.”
