Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Ing. Dr. Clifford Braimah, has denied claims that Ghana government has started paying interest on a $100 million loan facility contracted by the state in 2020.

According to a November 5, 2020, Parliamentary Hansard, the House approved a $100 million facility to be used for a water expansion project in Techiman. But till date, not even a piece of block has been laid.

In an encounter with Captain Smart Monday, May 22, 2023, the GWCL MD denied claims made by the host that Ghana has started paying interest on the sum whilst the project it was intended for has not even commenced.

Their engagement took place on Maakye.
