After Parliament’s approval of a $100million loan facility in November 2020, the Techiman Water Project (TWP) for which the sum was earmarked has not seen the light of day.

The foul development has been blamed on the failure of the Korean EXIM Bank to release the consultant who was chosen by the Ghana government.

According to the terms and conditions of the agreement, both the consultant and contractor would have to come from Korea to execute the project. The release of the consultant will be followed by opening of tender for contractors to bid for the project.

Speaking on Maakye with Captain Smart Monday, May 22, 2023, Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Ltd. (GWCL), Ing. Dr. Clifford Braimah, noted the project has delayed because the Korean EXIM Bank has not released the consultant yet for the other processes to commence.

Even though he expressed optimism for the start of the project this year, he was not sure when exactly it would be after almost three years of approving the loan.
