Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions have named veteran coach Bashir Hayford as the replacement of Salifu Fatawu.

The bottom-placed club – exactly a week ago – announced a decision to part ways with Salifu, who guided the side back to the top-flight league.

“The Club thanks Coach Salifu Fatawu for his role in ensuring its qualification to the Ghana Premier League,” the club said in a press release on Thursday, December 14.

“We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

On Thursday, December 21, the Volta Region side welcomed Bashir Hayford back to its fold.

“We are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Bashir Hayford as the Club’s new Head Coach,” Lions said on X, formerly Twitter.

“He makes a return to the Lions Den,” they added, alluding to the 2006/07 season he handled the side.

Bashir Hayford has coached top sides like Asante Kotoko, AshantiGold and Medeama SCs in the Ghana Premier League.

He also previously handled Ghana’s senior national women’s team.

Until the latest appointment, Bashir Hayford handled Legon Cities in the Premier League.
