Hearts of Oak have lost their second game in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians lost by two second-half goals to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Nana Oppong and Ismael Addo in the final seven minutes of the game gave Lions all the three points.
The game in the Volta Region was one of the final litmus tests the fans gave Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
He had, however, received unflinching support from the board of the club prior to the game.
He had lost his first game and had gone into the bad books of fans, who gathered around the team’s bus last week to demand his sacking.
Therefore, Sunday’s game was considered a must-win for the Phobians.
After playing over 80 minutes without any goal, the match appeared to be heading to a stalemate.
However, the unexpected happened as Lions got two successive goals in the 83rd and 87th minute to finish off their visitors.
Hearts will return to the Accra Sports Stadium for their next game against Bechem United on Sunday while Lions will travel away to face Dreams FC, who were held to a goalless draw by Basake Holy Stars.
