Former Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak have been held to a goalless draw by debutants Hohoe United in the opening game of the season.

The match played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday was the first in the 2025/26 season.

The Volta Region side played a large part of the second half with 10 men after Solomon Adomako was sent off for his second bookable offence.

It was a much to savour for fans as the Phobians have been in superb form in pre-season.

Since taking over from Aboubakar Ouattara, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani had led his side to the 2025 Homowo Charity Cup match as well as the 2025 Democracy Cup, beating Heart of Lions and Great Olympics respectively.

Despite missing the GHALCA Top 4, Hearts of Oak brought joy to their fans as they beat archrivals Asante Kotoko in their final game in the tournament.

Therefore, expectations have been high ahead of the season.

Unfortunately, no goal separated the two sides as FIFA referee Daniel Laryea brought proceedings to an end.
