Prestea Huni Valley lit up with hope yesterday, July 27, 2026, as Heath Goldfields Ghana officially handed over three 200KVA electricity transformers to the Municipal Assembly a move that drew loud praise from MP Robert Wisdom Cudjoe and MCE Mathew Ayeh.
The Managing Director Patrick Appiah Mensah reaffirmed the company’s unwavering commitment to long-term development in its catchment communities.
The brief handover ceremony marked the culmination of a direct appeal by local authorities to the mining giant and the response has been met with widespread appreciation from both government officials and residents.
Leading the charge of appreciation, the Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley, Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, expressed heartfelt thanks to the mining firm for stepping in at a critical time.
“On behalf of the good people of this municipality, I say ayekoo to Heath Goldfields,” Mr Cudjoe stated. “When we raised the alarm about the persistent power challenges crippling our communities, they did not hesitate. This donation is a testament to the power of partnership, and we are incredibly grateful.”
Echoing his sentiments, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mathew Ayeh, praised the swift intervention, emphasizing the transformative impact these transformers will have.
“Reliable electricity is not a luxury it is a necessity for businesses, schools, and households,” Hon. Ayeh remarked. “This support will directly boost economic activities in our catchment areas and improve the daily lives of our people. We appreciate Heath Goldfields for being a dependable neighbor.”
Presenting the items on behalf of the company, the Managing Director of Heath Goldfields, Patrick Appiah Mensah, assured the Assembly and the broader community that this donation is far from a one-off gesture.
“Our company is deeply rooted in the development of our operational areas,” Mr. Mensah stated. “We hear the concerns of our people, and we are fully committed to supporting our catchments for greater development.
These transformers are part of our broader corporate responsibility vision—to ensure that as we mine, we also uplift the communities that host us.”
He further promised that Heath Goldfields would continue to collaborate with the municipal authorities to identify and address other pressing infrastructural needs in the coming months.
With the handover complete, all eyes are now on the swift installation of these transformers to bring immediate relief to the beneficiary communities.
The 200KVA units are expected to stabilize the power supply, drastically reduce outages, and breathe new life into local businesses that have struggled with erratic electricity.
