Founder and leader of the United Progressive Party, Akwasi Addai Odike has retracted and rendered an apology to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

His apology is in effect with anything he might have said against the king which caused his banishment from the Ashanti Region.

Appearing on Onua TV/FM’s morning show Monday, September 12, 2022, Odike told Captain Smart, hist of the show that even though he retracts anything untoward he might have uttered against Otumfuo, his vituperation about illegal mining has just began.

“Otumfuo, if there is any part of my statement that didn’t go well with you, I retract. However, this is just the beginning of our fight against galamsey,” Odike stated, adding that “those threatening to kill me are cowards.”
