The Ghana Police Service has arrested 192 suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations targeting suspected criminal activities across parts of the country.
The operations, conducted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team between October 2 and 29, 2026, also led to the seizure of suspected narcotic substances, firearms, ammunition and other exhibits.
The exercises covered several communities in the Greater Accra Region, including New Town, Dansoman, Weija, Tudu, James Town, Shukura, Okaishie, Lapaz, Chantan, Odawna, Teshie, Avenor and Fadama.

Teshie recorded the highest number of arrests in a single operation, with 102 suspects, comprising 93 males and nine females, picked up on October 22.
Police said quantities of compressed dried substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, seven bottles of nitrous oxide and a bottle of Benylin with Codeine were recovered during the operation.
Eight persons identified as key suspected narcotics peddlers were subsequently handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit for further investigations.

Another operation at Lapaz and Chantan on October 15 resulted in the arrest of 41 suspects, including 35 males and six females. Quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances were also seized and retained for forensic examination.
At Okaishie Drug Lane, eight suspects were arrested on October 9, with police recovering suspected narcotic and pharmaceutical substances, including Tramadol, Rohypnol and codeine-containing products.

Other operations at New Town, Dansoman, Weija, Tudu, James Town and Odawna also resulted in arrests and the recovery of suspected narcotic substances, pharmaceutical products and processing equipment.
At Odawna, a 52-year-old businessman, identified as Richard Polo, was arrested following surveillance operations. Police said quantities of substances suspected to be cocaine and other narcotics were retrieved from his hideout.
The crackdown extended to Fadama and Shukura on October 28 and 29, where two suspects, Douglas Kobby, 47, and Habib Yakubu, were arrested.
Items recovered included four parcels of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, seven cartridges, a pump-action magazine, a dagger and a machete.

In a separate operation at Alabonu in Asutuare, three suspected members of a vigilante group were arrested and handed over to the Tema Regional Police Command for further investigations.
The Special Operations Team also conducted operations in the Eastern Region, leading to four additional arrests and the recovery of a pump-action shotgun, ammunition and substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol.
The Police Service said all the suspects were in custody assisting investigations, while efforts were underway to identify and arrest other persons suspected to be connected to the criminal activities.

The operations form part of ongoing police efforts to clamp down on suspected criminal networks and improve public safety.
