President of the Republic, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is confident Ghanaians will vote Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as President in this year’s polls which will be held in December.

The President, who has expressed optimism for a blissful year, with Ghana and the rest of the world welcoming 2024, said he is hopeful the new year will present better things for the country.

Irrespective of the challenges that came with 2023, the President and the Finance Minister said Ghana turned the corner at the latter part of the year with a significant reduction in inflation as well as a relatively stable exchange rate.

With Ghana heading into an election in 2024, the President said he is confident the process is going to be free and fair, for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is his Vice President and flag bearer of the governing New Patriotic Party, to emerge as winner.

“It’s going to be a good and peaceful year. We will have a clean election to elect our new president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he told Accra-based Citi FM when he joined congregants at the Ridge Church for the 31st Watch Night Service.

Ghanaians will go to the polls on December 7, 2024, to elect a new president.

Meanwhile, IMANI Africa’s Public Understanding and Literacy for Sentiments and Elections (PULSE) has placed John Dramani Mahama ahead of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in terms of social media reactions.

The IMANI PULSE comes ahead of the 2024 polls where Mahama is running on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) with Dr. Bawumia being the flag bearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Periodic Social Media Sentiment Analysis Report published in December 2023 says sentiments expressed by Ghanaians on John Mahama are favourable than that of Dr. Bawumia.

Per the survey, only 9.74% of posts mentioning Dr. Bawumia or the New Patriotic Party were positive.

However, John Mahama had about 20% of social media posts mentioning him and the NDC to be positive.

IMANI highlighted that the number of posts mentioning the NPP and Dr. Bawumia was four times higher than those mentioning the NDC and Mahama.
