Government’s representative at Tarkwa Nsuaem, Benjamin Kesse, has said he is not God to oversee everything that goes on in his municipality at every point in time.

The Municipal Chief Executive has said he was not aware of an ongoing galamsey in the municipality the day before Wednesday when he granted this interview.

He, had, however, admitted that he knows galamsey is rampant in the municipality but wasn’t aware the activity was ongoing the previous day.

Speaking with Captain Smart on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, he noted his outfit has been doing their best to clampdown on illegal mining since government waged its war against it.

Mr. Kesse was responding to an allegation being peddled against him and two others by the Dompim-Pepesa chief, Nana Nyomwah Panyin V.

Nana had said the MCE and Members of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem and Takoradi, who double as Deputy minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Western Regional minister respectively, are engaged in galamsey in his area.

According to the chief, the minister is steering affairs at the top for the others to carry on with the illegal activities according to words from the MCE and Mireku Duker.

Nana Panyin V had answered host Captain Smart that, “just yesterday, there were people in the forest doing galamsey” to the question, “is galamsey going on in your area?”

But the MCE who said he wasn’t aware of any such thing said he is not God to know what goes on in the municipality at each point in time when posed with same question.
