A lecturer at the department of History and Political Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Samuel Adu Gyamfi opines President Akufo-Addo might have never taken any economic advise from his Veep.
He says it is surprising to know how sorry Ghana’s economy has become despite the background of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who has served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
With his credentials in perspective, the Professor says he doubts things would have escalated to its current worse state with Dr. Bawumia as head of the Economic Management Team.
His comments come following calls by some 80 Majority Members of Parliament demanding the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and his deputy, Charles Adu Boahen’s to be dismissed.

According to the Majority MPs, “The prevailing circumstances is not pleasing and after consulting our constituents and informing the leadership of Parliament, we want the President to set aside the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the deputy minister of State in charge of Finance Charles Adu Boahen for government business to continue.
“If the president refuses to heed to our call, we will not participate in any business for the government,” Andrews Appiah Kubih said on behalf of the group.
Meanwhile, Prof. Adu Gyamfi tells Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua FM’s midday bulletin that the finance minister is only interested in carrying himself around as minister without recourse to what he is actually supposed to do to salvage the sinking economy.
He says Ofori-Atta probably took centre stage of everything without giving Bawumia a listening on possible policies that might have inure to the benefit of the state.
“The President being adamant [on calls to sack Ofori-Atta] is clear he wasn’t heeding to Bawumia’s advice for anything,” he said
